In the Hero I-League Second Division 2022-23, Delhi Football Club (DFC) defeated ISL club Mumbai City for the second time in a row. Earlier the team defeated them 4-0 in the match played at Minerva Academy and now won 5-0 at the Cooperage Stadium in Mumbai. Balwant scored two goals.
DFC started with an attack at the Cooperage Stadium and got the first breakthrough after 10 minutes. Vanlalhriatzuala K created the opportunity and opened the team’s account. After this goal, the players of the team did not stop and continued to search for opportunities. Mumbai City were on the back foot at home as well and Rahul Rawat scored the second goal against them in the 24th minute. They made a mistake in their search for the goal and Mustafa Sheikh was yellow carded in the 45+2 minute. The score remained 2-0 in the first half.
In the second half too, DFC did not let down their attack. The team created chances and this time they got success in the 66th minute. Balwant Singh opened the account and put the team ahead 3-0. Mumbai could not recover from this goal when Abhay Gurung scored in the 72nd minute. The team’s victory was certain and Balwant scored his double in the 84th minute. Mumbai City FC did not have an answer to his goal. Hosts Mumbai were defeated with a huge score of 5-0.
DFC has retained the second position in the points table after this win.
