The Chandigarh District Council of the PCCTU has took a serious note of a letter sent by a liaison officer in the office of the DHE, UT Chandigarh to the Principals of local SGGS College and GGS College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh regarding the biometric attendance.
Condemning the act, Prof. Himanshu, Secretary of the district council said that the issue is already pending subject to negotiations between the DHE and the district council. The district council, under the guidance of PCCTU executive, had opposed the move in its meeting held in May 2017 and demanded complete parity with the government counterparts and provision of infrastructure as per UGC guidelines, which the private managements are unable to afford. He said that the union has not received any communication in this regard so far. Under the circumstances, this letter is totally unwarranted and uncalled for.
He apprehended connivance of some elements, working against the interests of the teaching faculty of these two institutions, behind this letter. He told that the letter has been issued only to these two colleges in a conspicuous manner, when the DHE is on leave and out of country.
He reiterated the position of the union that such instructions can be considered only if the conditions put forward by the PCCTU are met with. Any kind of high handedness will be resented and opposed, he said.
