Dubai Under-16 team which arrived in Chandigarh to play a five T20 exhibition match series faced two consecutive defeats on the inaugural day. In the first match played at St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45, UTCA Under-16 Team A defeated visitors by eight wickets in a one-sided affair. After winning the toss, Dubai scored 140/9 runs in the stipulated twenty overs wherein Jaydev Ghatani (50) was the top scorer. Saksham and Gursimranjeet shared two wickets for the fielding side. In reply, Ranveer Ahuja (39), Divjot Singh (35) and unbeaten wicketkeeper batter Harjagteshwar Khaira (33) steered the home side to a comfortable win in the 15th over.
In the second match of the day, UTCA Under 16 B team defeated Dubai Under 16 by a massive margin of 160 runs. Visitors opted to field first followed by a brilliant knock of skipper Ritwik Sood (151 runs off 70 balls) to pile up 252/3 for UTCA Under 16 B team. Lakshya Rana (65) also smashed half ton. In reply, the visitors were restricted to 92/9.
