The  Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) along with Youth Riderz Club organized a bike ride in the city in memory of youth icon Gurpreet Singh who lost his life opposing the public smoking which  was ruining the life of millions of people every year in the country.
          This bike ride  started from Gurudwara Rakabganj Sahib and culminated at AIIMS before passing through different localities of the city.
          On the occasion addressing the local enthusiastic youth who  participated in this bike ride wholeheartedly, Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa General Secretary of the DSGMC said that  public smoking must be banned in the country with measures of its strict implementation. He said that though since long we have been hearing the announcement in this regards but seldom we have seen its implementation in letter and spirit. He said that this menace has taken many lives in the country but is most unfortunate that this is continuing unabated. He said that smoking tobacco  is most harmful for the human body but people who are habitual smokers don’t understand the gravity of the situation.
          Mr. Sirsa said that not only the smokers but the people are around the smokers are also bound to suffer of the ill affects of smoking. He said that he is  actively engaged in opposing the public smoking of tobacco and infact got implemented ban on Hookah smoking in the city which has saved thousands of young lives every year.
          The DSGMC General Secretary further said that motive of today’s bike ride was to pay tributes to the priceless life of Gurpreet Singh who lost his life while opposing the public smoking in the city. He said that this sacrifice has not only shaken our spirit but has also awaken the people of the ill affects of the public smoking and it will be a true tribute to him if we achieve success in complete ban on public smoking.
Others prominent who participated in this bike ride included Dr. Nishan Singh Maan, Jasmain Singh Noni, Jaspreet Singh Vicky Mann, Sukhwinder Singh Babbar, Swaranjit Singh and Karan Singh Sahni besides others.
