Prominent Sikh farmer leader, President of Chandigarh unit of All India Jatt Mahasabha and National Delegate of Mahasabha S. Rajinder Singh Badheri, paid floral tributes to his late mentor Dr.Vishwanath Tiwari on his 37th birth anniversary today. S. Badheri remembered Prof. Dr. Remembering Tiwari with wet eyes. He said that senior professor of Punjab University, Chandigarh and Rajya Sabha member Dr. Vishwanath Tiwari was martyred by some misguided boys. Mr. Badheri said that then Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale had said that Dr. Tiwari’s murder was wrong.
Mr. Badheri demanded that Dr. Tiwari’s conspiratorial murder should be re-investigated. The conspirators and killers must be exposed. At that time, the public and political parties should know the perpetrators of such incidents.
Mr. Badheri also demanded Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the cases of Harbans Singh Manchanda, former president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and seven persons who were killed after being pulled out of a bus at Fatehabad Tarn Taran.
Exploring his mind, S. Badheri said that – My Professor Dr. Vishwanath Tiwari was shot dead in the morning on April 3, 1984 in Sector 24 in Sector 24 by alongwith his wife Dr. Amrita Tiwari (who was a Dentist at PGI Nehru Hospital) at the Government House. He was martyred only with the intention of spreading terror.
He further said that he had a very cordial relationship with the martyred professor. Dr. Tiwari also had a very good relationship with my father late father Jathedar Ajaib Singh Badheri who was then National Delegate of Shiromani Akali Dal General House and Senior Vice President of Chandigarh Provincial Unit of the party & also was the President of the rural unit. Mr. Badheri said that Dr. Manish Tiwari, the promising son of Vishwanath Tiwari and a member of the Lok Sabha, is also his good friend.
Mr. Badheri also said in an emotional tone that – I was actively involved in Akali politics as well as education at that time and was the youngest founding member of Youth Akali Dal Mohali Circle and Senior Vice President of Mohali Circle. I was only 20 years and 10 months old at that time.
Mr. Badheri also said that I was arrested on January 1, 1983 at Sri Amritsar Sahib Kotwali alongwith Sant Ajit Singh of Parvar Vichhora during Dharam Yudh Morcha. We were kept at Gumtala Jail, Amritsar and released on January 3, 1983.
Mr. Badheri further said that at that time I was actively involved in Akali politics as well as education and was the youngest founding member of Youth Akali Dal Mohali Circle and was the Senior Vice President of Circle Mohali. When I was appointed by Sant Harchand Singh Longowal – the then President of Shiromani Akali Dal. I was then only 20 years and 10 months. The letter of appointment was issued on 18 June 1983 by Gurcharan Singh Maujon Masti, Secretary of the party.
