Today, the Felicitation Ceremony of Meritorious Wards of Chandigarh Police family was held in the Multipurpose Hall, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Lady Governor, Mrs. Alka Singh, wife of H.E. Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest on this occasion. Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra (President of Chandigarh Police family welfare society) wife of Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, W/DGP, U.T Chandigarh, Mrs. Meenakshi wife of Sh. Alok Kumar, DIG/UT and Mrs. (Dr.) Shruti Singhal w/o of Sh. Eish Singhal W/SSP U.T Chandigarh (Vice-President of Chandigarh Police family welfare society) along with wife’s of other senior police officers were present on this occasion. Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra (President of Chandigarh Police family welfare society) delivered the welcome speech. In her welcome speech she said “This event belongs to wonderful young achievers who are receiving the rewards for their hard work and outstanding performance. On this occasion, I must mention the efforts by the members of Chandigarh Police Family welfare society for their dedication in lifting the morale of police wards, not only in academics but in other aspects of life”.
During the Felicitation Ceremony, Police scholarship was distributed among the 93 police wards. The police wards who secured 80% or above marks in the academic session of Graduate level courses, 70 % or above marks in Post Graduate course, 60 % or above marks in technical degree/diploma were rewarded for the session 2015-2016. The police wards who shown outstanding performance in professional courses and other activities like excellence in sports, singing, dancing, other talents hunt show (telecasts by various TV Channels), were also rewarded. The total prize amount of Rs. 20,35,000/- was distributed among the Meritorious Wards of Chandigarh Police families.
Ms. Himanshi Tanwar, who is also participant of talent hunt show on TV “The Voice of India, Season-2” performed a beautiful Rajasthani Folk song on this occasion. She was also rewarded by the Chief Guest.
Lady Governor, Mrs. Alka Singh, wife of H.E. Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, while addressing the function appreciated the scholarship participant’s efforts and encouraged them to work hard in future to achieve their goal. She also appreciated the efforts done by the Chandigarh Police family welfare society. Further she congratulated the Chandigarh Police family welfare society for this felicitation function. She said “It’s not easy to become a winner into this competitive world and it really takes a lot of effort and dedication not just on the part of students but it also includes the sacrifices and patience of parents, especially for a policemen as it is very difficult to save time for family because of long hours duties in their day-today life. This is a very special moment for awardees and Chandigarh Police Family welfare society which is doing noble job by recognizing the hard work of police wards.
