Fortis Hospital, Mohali organized week-long activities to mark the World Patient Safety Day, as suggested by the World Health Organization.
The signature mark of the global campaign was to light up iconic monuments, landmarks, and public places in orange color as a gesture of respect and gratitude to all health workers. The theme of WPSD 2020 was Healthcare Worker Safety: A Priority for Patient Safety (Safe Healthcare Workers, Safe patients). The overall objective of World Patient Safety Day is to enhance global understanding of patient safety, increase public engagement in the safety of health care, and promote global actions to enhance patient safety and reduce patient harm.
In an endeavor to support the WHO Global Campaign on Patient safety, Fortis Hospital Mohali illuminated Fortis Tower in orange in addition to a series of other activities. The department of Clinical Pharmacology & Nursing, Quality & Infection Control organized a few activities.
A Webinar on ‘Medication without Harm’ was organized for Fortis nursing staff. The speaker of the session, Dr. Shivani Juneja, Clinical Pharmacologist, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, discussed high-risk situations, polypharmacy, and transition of care. The Healthcare Workers of the hospital wore orange ribbons to mark their commitment towards patient safety.
A Flash Quiz, Short videos and panel discussions with expertise on safety Initiatives was taken by staff during COVID-19 pandemic times. Mr. Ashish Bhatia (COO rest of India) and Dr GBS Kang (Medical Director & Director Medical Operations), felicitated the winners in the closing ceremony.
Mr. Ashish Bhatia and Dr GBS Kang, Dr Anita Sharma (Lab & Infection control Head), Dr Shweta Prabhakar (Head Quality & Patient safety), Capt. Neelam Deshwal (CNO) attended the session along with various departmental Head of Departments. Mr. Bhatia felicitated the winners and appreciated that the safety measures undertaken by Fortis Hospital Mohali in current times is very much commendable. He also encouraged employees to adopt and implement safety culture all across the hospital.
