Renowned Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan today unveiled the second volume of the CanSurvive book, titled “Stronger than Cancer: Unique Stories of Strength and Survival”, at Fortis Hospital Mohali. The book features inspirational stories of eight cancer survivors who were treated at Fortis Mohali . The book launch happened amongst the presence of patients along with  their families, who were present at the event to narrate their journeys, along with Senior Leadership from Fortis  including Ashish Bhatia, Executive Vice President, Fortis Healthcare; Abhijit Singh, Head-SBU, Fortis Hospital Mohali; Dr. Rajeev Bedi, Director, Medical Oncology, Fortis Hospital Mohali; along with senior doctors and the oncology team.

Cancer survivors—Balbir Singh, Vidisha, Amit Pushkarna, Jatinderjit Kaur, Parminder, Vijay Kumar Verma, Sonika Pandey, and Teena Sharma—shared their survival stories  against  cancer. The book highlights their resilience, the unwavering support of their families, and the innovative treatments provided by Fortis oncologists. Each case presented unique clinical challenges, demonstrating the power of hope and medical excellence.

Speaking at the book launch,, Gurdas Mann said, – “Through their struggles, these warriors have discovered the incredible power of hope, the boundless strength that can come from faith, and the beauty of life when one chooses to fight. I strongly feel that in challenging situations like these, worrying about the illness would have only made it harder. The determination to hold on is what helped each one beat cancer. I have even said in one of my songs – Chinta chikha samaan hundi, shubhchintak kehnde, tu rajj ke mehnat maar, bure din roj ni rehnde, chinta na kar yaar, bure din roj ni rehnde. These individuals have done just that. They have truly released their fears and embraced the strength that resides within.” –  The singer has also written a foreword in the book.

Echoing a similar view, Ashish Bhatia, Executive Vice President, Fortis Healthcare said“The book is an inspiration for all of us. The moving stories of the survivors, along with their entire support system, is a true reflection of human spirit to keep fighting even when the chips are down. At Fortis, we would like to acknowledge and support such endearing stories of cancer survivors through this book.”

Dr Rajeev BediDirector, Medical Oncology, Fortis Hospital Mohali, said, “The stories incubate a desire to wage a fight, but at the same time & more importantly, underline the importance of regular cancer screening. The rising incidence of cancer is a grave concern, which can be addressed by early detection through screening and through an effective line of treatment especially with high precision oncology practices like targeted therapies, robotic surgeries, pin point radiations among others .”

The paperback edition will be distributed free of cost, and the e-book is available for free download on the Fortis Healthcare website.
