The college started the new academic session on pious note with a Hawan to mark the auspicious occasion and to pray for the bright future of the new students. It was followed by an Induction ceremony held for the first time in the history of the college. The ceremony started with a video to pay tribute to Flt. Lt. Siddharth Vashishth, a DAV alumnus who attained martyrdom in a helicopter crash recently. Principal, Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma addressed the newly admitted students.
He said, “DAV is a sacred place and you all should be proud to be a part of this college. The history and sanctity of the institution is all because of the teachers. You can fulfil all your dreams if you maintain the same relationship with the teachers as Lord Krishna had with Arjun. Your foundations of future are going to be laid here.” He urged the students to be receptive, humble and maintain a good relationship with the teachers. He explained the DAV concept of education as a modern notion of education. He wanted the students to strive and work for the benefit of society and mankind.
He promised all help from the management and teachers to help them in their journey. He warned them to stay away from distractions. Dr. Kakoli Biswas, Registrar, appraised the students of the rules for the new session, discipline, examination fee, attendance, discipline. She informed the students about the requirement of 75% attendance and of the Swayam online courses and the Placement and Training Cell. Dr. Raman Soni, Dean Admissions told the students about the freeships and scholarships being offered by the college to meritorious and needy students.
The students were shown videos of the illustrious alumni and sports and cultural achievements of the college. Librarian, Ms. Deepti Madan introduced the library to the students. Dr. Kiran Hooda, DSW, emphasized on discipline and cooperation of the students for smooth conduct of the student elections. The students were shown the various social activities being dome under NSS by Dr. Suman Kapur. They also took a Swatchta pledge along with the NSS volunteers. Dr. Nikhilesh Thakur, ANO, NCC, Air Wing briefed the students about the NCC wings, the motto, and the achievements of the cadets of the College. Prof Avanindra Chopra in his presiding remarks encouraged the students to do the things they always wanted to do but could not due to different reasons. He assured them that the college was going to provide them a space to reinvent themselves. Dr. Aarti Sharma delivered the vote of thanks.
