In a solemn ceremony at 12 Wing Air Force, Chandigarh today, homage was paid to the two Air Force commandos who were martyred in an encounter in Bandipora district of kashmir yesterday. Wreaths were placed by Air Vice Marshal S.K. Jha AOC Advance. Hqr. WAC, Air Cmde Arun Saklani AOC 12 Wing AF, Air Cmde S K Sinha, AOC 3 BRD and other officers and colleagues of the martyrs.
Sgt Milind Kishor Khairnar and Corporal Nilesh Kumar Nayan were grievously injured during a terrorist encounter and succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. They were part of Joint Security team with the Army during the combined cordon and search operation on 11 Oct in the Hajin Village of Bandipora Distt. Kashmir. Two terrorists were also killed in the encounter.
Earlier, the mortal remains of the brave Comandos were brought to Chandigarh yesterday for onward journey to their respective native places in Maharashtra and Bihar.Sgt Milind Kishor is survived by his wife , a daughter and son aged 2 yrs and 7 yrs and Corporal Nilesh Kumar Nayan is survived by his wife and one year old baby.
