On October 23, NGO- SPEAK India (Society for Promotion of Ethical & Affordable health Care) in collaboration with and at Post Graduate Government College for Girls (PGGCG) ,Sec 11 is organizing Tri-city Inter-college debate competition on ‘Doctors have no role in healthcare?’ This is part of the series of events of SPEAK ‘Selling health through education’. There is a tremendous response from the colleges. All participants will be given certificates and winners will be given cash prizes and trophies. Mr. Sarban Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary Haryana Government, Dr. Sharad Prabhakar from PGI and Ms Kimmy Grewal from Vivek High School will be the judges. Principal Anita Kaushal and Prof Maninder Sidhu will welcome the guests and participants.
Dr. R. Kumar , President SPEAK India said, ‘Eighty percent of what affects health outcomes is associated with factors outside the traditional boundaries of doctors’ domain— like health behaviors (Alcohol, tobacco, drugs use, sexual adventures etc), social and economic factors (employment, education, income), and physical environment (air quality, water quality, exercise, food quality and quantity). There is a need for the governance to expand to these territories. This event will serve twin purposes of inculcating healthy lifestyle in the community and redeem the falling image of doctors, thus leading to ‘Healthy India’.
