St. Anne’s Convent School, Chandigarh organized its inaugural edition of Inter-School Parliamentary Debating Championship – SAPDC 2018. With over 44 teams from all over the tricity, the event gave the students an amazing opportunity to express their views on wide ranging topics, being the future leaders of our country. The students were welcomed by eager smiles and warm greetings from the school. Sr. Dr. Shyni Paul, the school principal declared the championship open with her words of wisdom.
The event started with a beautiful classical dance and musical performance which conveyed deep message of patriotism. This was followed by a brief session of career counselling graciously organized by IMS Academy.
“Parliamentary Debating is a great opportunity for us to build our characters, and learn to stand up for what is right. After all the purpose of education is to teach students how to live their lives-by developing their mind and preparing them to deal with reality” this message lit up the whole event. And indeed it was the current education system that was debated on first. This was followed by topics on various current issues ranging from blood sports, Aadhar cards and votes. The event was divided into two categories, in the junior’s category St. Anne’s Convent School, Chandigarh bagged the first position followed by Hansraj Public School, Panchkula in the second position. In the senior categories the first position was secured by Bhavan Vidyalya Chandigarh followed by Manav Mangal Smart School, Mohali in the second position. The overall best speaker trophy was won by St. Anne’s Convent School, Chandigarh. As a whole, the event gave a magnificent boost to the students, who inched forward in their way to become responsible citizens.
