The Los Angeles-based restaurant chain, Fatburger marks its return to India with the opening of its first outlet in sector 35, Chandigarh City. The brand has partnered with FranGlobal, an international market entry specialist firm, for its expansion in India and plans to open 25 locations within the next 1 year with an investment from 40 Cr.
Fatburger, The Last Great Hamburger Stand™, is known for its juicy, made-to-order burgers, first created by founder Lovie Yancey when she launched the brand almost 70 years ago in Southern California. With a wide variety of tasty add-ons and condiments to select from, each burger is grilled-to-order and topped with the freshest ingredients. In addition to their iconic burgers, Fatburger offers perfectly crisp fries, onion rings and hand-scooped milkshakes.
“We are very excited to announce the opening of the first Fatburger outlet in the Indian market. Looking at consumer trends and preferences, we feel this was the perfect time to relaunch the brand here and are hoping to leverage the launch across the market. We aim to open 25 more locations in the next few years; I believe our fresh, juicy, burgers will definitely set us apart from the existing competition in the market,” said Saif Iqbal, Senior Vice President-Operations, FranGlobal.
“We are very delighted to partner with one of the most famous burger chains in America,” said Sanjeev Pasricha, Consultant, Amtee Foods (Franchise partner, Fatburger India). India, and Chandigarh in particular, are very receptive by nature; there are people who are well-traveled, educated and aware of international brands; I feel that Fatburger will be welcomed wholeheartedly by the city. It will not just be a place to eat, but an experience altogether. As soon as you step in, you will be embraced by lively space (much like an all-American diner), and will be able to order full meals with fresh ingredients – giving a truly new experience to our Indian customers”.
Specifically, The NRAI India Food Services Report 2019 estimates Indian foodservice industry’s market size at INR 4,23,865 crore in 2018-19 which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9% to reach INR 5,99,782 crore (85 Billion USD) by 2022-23.
