Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal, Namberdar, Village Bhukhari Kalan, Ludhiana, has appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Capt. Amarinder Singh to ban the upcoming Punjabi films which are based on gangster themes.

Talking to the media at the Chandigarh Press Club today, Mr Grewal said, “Being a social worker, I am deeply concerned about the crime based movies, which affect the local youths adversely. I have sought legal action against the people involved in making of such movies like ‘Ik Sandhu Hunda C’, ‘Jora The Second Chapter’, ‘Gandhi 3 Yaaran Da Yaar’, ‘Daakuan Da Munda 2’, ‘Zahoor’, ‘Zindagi Zindabad’ and ‘Defaulter’. I have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister as well as giving a copy to the DGP, Punjab also.”

Grewal elaborated, “The persons and organisations concerned with the above movies include – Gippy Grewal (actor), Humble Motion Pictures, Bally Singh Kakar, Rakesh Mehta (Producer/ Director), Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Harpreet Singh Devgan, Jerry Brar and Deep Sidhu alias Sandeep Singh Sidhu (Producers), Dev Kharoud (Producer) Dream Reality, Parmish Verma (Actor), Pankaj Batra (Director/ Producer), Ninja alias Amit Bhalla (Actor), Ritik Bansal, Ashok Yadav, Mandeep Singh Manna and Gaurav Mittal (Producers), Prem Singh Sidhu (Director), Mansi Singh, Gurjit Singh, Aporav Ghai and Ranjiv Singla (Producers).”

These films are based on the life and crimes of gangsters and the same promote violence, heinous crimes, extortion, threats and criminal intimidation. Punjab & Haryana High Court, vide order CWP-6213-2016 dated 22.07.2019 has directed that no songs or live shows will be allowed which spread violence and affect public at large. These movies are likely to be released in violation of the order passed by the High Court and the aforesaid persons have also committed offence under section 153, 153A, 153B, 160, 107, 505 of IPC.
