Anticipating the Children’s Day, about 300 boys and girls from the seven Balwadi and remedial study centres gatheredat Don Bosco, Chandigarh Sector 24B. It is a day for the children. The focus is on health and hygiene sensitizing and cultural programmes to give expression to the creativity of children. By 8.00 A.M. children from the centres were picked up by bus and started to gather in the well prepared shamiyanaat the centre.

The collaboration from the Indira Holiday home, Doctors from Punjab Dental college, volunteers from HimlayanCompany, and the Don Bosco Staff went out of their way to prepare the children and see about the health awareness programme. Students preparing for the NIOS exams lent a hand offered the children, preparing the food packets and giving a lovely dance and song number. St. Stephen’s Schools lent a hand to provide nail cutters for the children to keep their hands clean. The Chief guest was Mrs Santosh Sharma, chairperson of Chandigarh Social Welfare Board. Guest of Honour was Mr. Deepak Chouhan, owner of a Medical Store in P.G.I., he was also the main sponsor of the event.  Area Councillor, Sunita Dhawan graced the occasion

A visitor could see some of the children seated calmly in the beautiful venue. A group of medics were having children queued for eye check up. Others stood around the counter of the HSJ Institute of Dental Sciences, having their teeth checked up. Others were engrossed in the cultural items they were showcasing. Ms Kajal (10th class, Govt. Model Sr. Sec School, Sec 49 D, Chandigarh) bagged gold award (group Dance) and Silver medal Classical Dance participation.
