In a stunning display of skill, strategy, and teamwork, Minerva Academy’s Under-17 team has risen to the top of the table with a hard-fought 2-3 victory against Baichung Bhutia Football Schools (BBFS) Delhi. This impressive win marks the team’s sixth victory, with two draws, and cements their position as the league leaders in the U-17 Youth League.
The young warriors from Minerva Academy have been on a tear, scoring an astonishing 37 goals so far, with a massive goal difference of 33. Their unbeaten streak is a testament to their dedication, perseverance, and passion for the beautiful game.
The match against BBFS Delhi was a highly anticipated clash between two of the top teams in the league. The Delhi side, known for their strong youth development program, posed a significant challenge to Minerva Academy. However, the Chandigarh-based team was undaunted, displaying a resolute and determined performance that ultimately led to their victory.
It was an exciting fixture and Minerva’s young warriors were resolute and put up a spectacular come back. BBFS scored 2 goals and were on the lead but Minerva kept fighting and creating chances.
The match seemed to be slipping away until Husanpreet started scripting the comeback with a brilliant header in the 82nd minute, igniting hope for Minerva Academy. Building on that momentum, Lunkim, the tournament’s top scorer with 13 goals, found the back of the net in the 86th minute to level the score, showcasing his incredible form and composure under pressure. The stage was then set for Kilong, who sealed the deal in dramatic fashion by scoring the winner in the dying moments of the game, clinching all three points.
