Following the guidelines of CBSE as part of “Mission Green Schools” St. Anne’s Convent School organized “Prakriti Mahotsav” a tree plantation drive. The drive started with the members of nature club cleaning and de-weeding the nature garden in the school campus. Eleven trees of native species appropriate to be nurtured in Chandigarh climate had been selected and collected from the Lake Forest Nursery
The school Principal, Sr. Dr. Shyni Paul graced the occasion by planting the first plant sapling. The sapling was named as “Bhagat Amaltash” in memory of Martyr Bhagat Singh. The principal interacted with the students and reminded the students the importance of Prakriti Mahotsav.
The other plants were planted by the members of the “nature club”. Students later took out a rally around the school premises with their handmade posters and banners. The members promised to take the responsibility of observing and taking care of the newly planted saplings.
The school successfully contributed towards the initiative of CBSE to plant 2, 27,799 trees to protect the earth. The students took part in the “Prakriti Mahotsav” was celebrated by the students with lot of enthusiasm and zeal to make the campaign “Mission Green Schools” a success.
