Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha from Punjab, called upon Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari today to address critical infrastructure challenges in Punjab.
Dr. Sahney highlighted the urgent need for a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) to connect the GT Road to the Golden Temple (Darbar Sahib) in Amritsar. Citing the daily influx of over 1.5 lakh pilgrims, he demanded a pod service similar to operational in Heathrow Airport and other places.
Dr. Sahney informed that he also advocated for the speedy completion of three critical bypass projects in Punjab; Sirhind Sehna Bypass (Mohali–Barnala), Jeerakpur Bypass (NH7-NH5) and Green Field Bypass for Faridkot. These projects will play a pivotal role to alleviate congestion on key routes and to enhance connectivity for tourists traveling to Punjab.
Dr. Sahney also reiterated that suitable budgetary allocations should be made for bio-gas and alternative fuel initiatives utilizing organic waste to mitigate stubble burning. This step would not only address environmental concerns but also promote sustainable energy solutions.
Dr. Sahney emphasized the importance of suitable budgetary allocations to expedite these projects, ensuring their timely execution to benefit the people of Punjab. Shri Gadkari assured his support and commitment to these vital infrastructure and environmental initiatives.
