To celebrate Independence Day in a different way, a one of a kind Trade Expo: ‘Namaste Thailand Expo 2018’ was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi Ambassador of Thailand to India. The Expo which is both a B2B and B2C Trade Fair, has been organised by Global Events, a company based at Chandigarh, , in collaboration with Thai SME’s Exporter Association from August 15 till 19, 2018 in Himachal Bhawan, Sec 28 here. It is noteworthy that Global Events is gradually expanding its business in different parts of India also. The Thai Ambassador formally inaugurated the showcase in the presence of Senior IAS Officer Mr. V K Meena, Secretary Revenue,Chandigarh , Mr. Thepthai Suriyalaksh, Director, Thai SMEs Exporter Association, Mr. Rattandeep Singh Walia, Director, Global Events, Mr. Jasdeep Singh, Director (Trade Fairs) CII, Northern Region, Chandigarh , Ms. Anong, General Secretary, Thai SME’s Exporter Association, Ms. Patcharee Thongrit, Additional Secretary, Thai SME’s Exporter Association, Ms. Anna, Joint Secretary, Thai SME’s Exporter Association & Ms. Aman Walia, Director, Global Events.
A scintillating Thai Cultural dance performance was also held as part of the inaugural ceremony. The Thai Ambassador did some Thai cooking himself and the dish that he made was savoured by visitors.
H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi Ambassador of Thailand to India said, “While the Indo-Thai bilateral trade stands at around USD 10 billion, and there are 28 Thai companies invested in Bharat, there is much more room for growth of both trade and investment between an emerging ‘New India 2022’ and ‘Thailand 4.0’. There is always more that we can do to promote awareness of each other’s products, services and cultures. ‘Namaste Thailand Expo 2018’ hopes to do this, focusing on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as well as Thai hospitality.”
Exhibitors from across Thailand have converged with their wares at the 60 stalls being put up at ‘Namaste Thailand Expo 2018’.

The ‘Namaste Thailand Expo 2018’ is a treasure trove for those looking to shop for authentic Thai products & services. On every purchase at the Expo the customer will get a discount voucher. What’s more, in case purchase is of Rs 1000 or more, then the customer will become eligible for Thai Gift in a lucky draw in which he will .” Said Rattandeep Singh Walia, Director, Global Events.
Traditional Thai Spa products, jewellery, garments, natural latex products, fashion accessories are available.
The Expo is offering the famous therapeutic massage therapy services & ayurvedic products of Thailand.
“The Royal Thai Embassy had organised the ‘Namaste Thailand 2018’ festival in March 2018 in New Delhi and will organize the 2019 edition next year. Actually, Namaste Thailand 2018 in New Delhi gave inspiration to the Thai SMEs Exporter Association to organize Namaste Thailand Expo 2018 in Chandigarh. The Expo will strengthen Indo-Thai relations, create trade & investment opportunities and broaden consumer choice for Thai products & services to the region’s residents.” Said Mr. Thepthai Suriyalaksh, Director, Thai SMEs Exporter Association.
A food court with Veg & Non Veg Thai specialities, salads etc has also be put up. Another attraction at the exhibition will be Thai Cultural dance performances which will be held each day to entertain visitors
