Students of Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh today celebrated National Voters Day under the theme “No Voter to be left behind” at its Campus with an aim to encourage the students to participate in voting system & democratic process enthusiastically.
On the occasion students of Aryans College of Law presented papers and their views on corrupt practices prevalent in elections which are used with the purpose of getting one’s votes in one’s favour. The students appealed their fellow students to use their voting rights wisely so that the right person may be selected to govern us.
Students spoke on various other issues such as Proxy, Poster ballot, tendered voting etc. They further appealed not to indulge in wrongful activities such as selling one’s vote.
Mr. Steven Jawinda, Registrar, Aryans Group awhile addressing the students and staff said that we have been celebrating National Voters Day on January 25 every year since 2011. And that is why the relevance of this day is even more pronounced on the eve of Republic Day. He said that our Constitution empowers an independent Election Commission.
