OZONE DAY CELEBRATED IN PGGCG-11, CHANDIGARH

PRAKRITI – The Environment Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector -11, organized World Ozone Day today on the theme “Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Change”. Following activities were organized:

  1. Inter College Article Writing Competition
  2. Inter College Poster making Competition
  3. Intra College Declamation Competition
  4. Pledge to Save Ozone Layer
  5. Rally on Save Ozone

On the Occasion of World Ozone Day -2024, PRAKRITI- The Environment Society of PGGCG-11 organized various inter college competitions like article writing competition, poster making competition, declamation contest, pledge to save Ozone Layer and rally on Save Ozone.

About 150 students participated in various Competitions. The Chief Guest of the function was Prof. Dr. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the College. She encouraged the Students and faculty members to cut short the use of Ozone depleting substances. She also stressed that sustainable development is the need of the hour and students have a significant role in this direction. She also stated that the Ongoing healing of the Ozone Layer is an inspirational example of how the world can come together to address global challenges. She also stated that Montreal Protocol was a deal for countries across the globe to curb the existence of Ozone depleting substances such as aerosols, chlorofluorocarbons, halons etc widely used for cooling and refrigeration systems. The usage of such harmful substances resulted in a hole in the Ozone layers in Antartica.

She encouraged the students and faculty members to cut short the use of Ozone depleting substances. She also stressed that sustainable development is the need of the hour and students have a significant role in this direction. She also stated that the ongoing healing of Ozone layer is an inspirational example of how the world can come together to address global challenges. The students and faculty members took a pledge to conserve energy.

About 150 students participated in the rally raising slogans on Save Ozone and to cut down the usage of Ozone depleting substances.
