The Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union strongly condemns the arrest of Journalist Rajinder Singh Taggar ( Punjab Dastavez) by the Mohali police. He is allegedly arrested for his reporting on various news stories.
The President Balbir Jandu, Chairman Balwinder Jammu, Acting President Jai Singh Chhibber , Secretary Santokh Gill, Jagtar Bhullar, the leadership of Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union are of the view that the action of the police amounts to hit ‘freedom of the press’. The leaders further said the police had taken such action during Loksabha Election process. The leaders requested Election Commission to take immediate cognizance of the issue.
The Union demands fair and unbiased investigation in this case and also demands immediate release of the Journalist.
