Natural Biodiversity is a registered society working for the cause of spreading awareness about science, nature, climate, environment, biodiversity etc. Established in 2014, the group has organized about twenty six significant events that reached Lakhs of people in and around Chandigarh. The group organizes weekly nature and photo walks besides providing free lectures to students of schools and colleges.
Joining hands with Divisional Library (South), Chandigarh Administration and Pigeon Watch Chandigarh an event ‘Peace for Environment’ was organized on Feb 23, 2017 at Divisional Library (South), Sector 34, Chandigarh from 10 am – 1 pm. The highlight of the event was Fancy Pigeon Show cum competition that saw many pigeon lovers bringing their pigeons to the city for display. The occasion was graced by Mr. Prabhjot Singh from Jalahander, Punjab champion 2007, Mr. Harbhajan Singh from Jandu Singha, 2nd prize winner from Shere Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh pigeon flying show 2017.
The chief guest of the event was renowned scientist Dr. Devinder Khurana. From Natural Biodiversity Shri. Rakesh Mohindra and Dr. Arun Bansal and from Pigeon Watch Chandigarh Shri Jaspreet Singh coordinated the event.
Incharge Divisional Library (South) Shri Parveen Khurana Ji expressed that this event would act as outreach program for the library in addition to completing a social responsibility of propagating the goodness of nature.
Dr. Arun Bansal and Jaspreet shared amazing facts about the pigeons around the world including Picasso named his daughter Paloma, which means “pigeon” in Spanish. It seems no common man knows pigeons are great parents and practice monogamy. They can learn some alphabets and some math too. In countries like Japan used pigeons to monitor pollution levels. The list was long and the event was one of its kind.
