Dr. Neelam Rathee, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology of Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector – 11, Chandigarh has been awarded a major research project of Rs. 8 lakhs by Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICCSR) under the Impactful Policy Research in Social Science (IMPRESS) scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. Dr Rathee will conduct a research on “Caring for the Caregiver: How changes in the household composition are affecting elder caregivers?”. She will study the changing dynamics of family structure in the modern nuclear households with respect to taking care of aging and ailing parents, and explore that how these changes affect the mental, physical, social, emotional, and economical well-being of the single and family caregivers?
College Principal Professor Dr. Anita Kaushal expressed her happiness over this achievement and said that it’s a matter of great pride for the college that the faculty is actively involved in quality research in social sciences which has been recognized and awarded by the Ministry of HRD and ICSSR, New Delhi.
Dr. Neelam Rathee thanked College Principal Professor Dr. Anita Kaushal for her persistent encouragement and providing healthy research environment in the college. Dr. Rathee has previously also completed two research projects granted by UGC and ICSSR, New Delhi. She has many international and national publications to her credit and has presented research papers in National and International Conferences. She’s also guiding Ph.D. Research Scholars in Punjab University, Chandigarh.
