Mr. R S Sachdeva, Chair, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI announced the upcoming 1st Edition of Punjab Tourism Recognitions (PTR) 2024 on the occasion of World Tourism day. He informed PTR is scheduled to take place in the month of December during PHDCCI Annual flagship event, Punjab International Trade Expo(PITEX) 2024 at Amritsar.
He elaborated on the significance of PITEX, emphasizing its role as a platform for promoting tourism and hospitality in Punjab and how PTR aims to celebrate and recognize excellence in tourism industry in Punjab. Mr. Karan Gilhotra, Co- Chair, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI mentioned, the Need of the hour is to identify and encourage Tourism Practices that establish Punjab as the Destination of choice for Travellers and at the same time encourage sustainable behaviour for all stakeholders.
He further stated Punjab Tourism Recognitions will be an Annual Event that will be awaited by the sector with anticipation. We will be creating a platform where new partnerships will be forged to address the challenges of the future. The Government and the Industry alike will get a Unique Opportunity to deliberate on important aspects. It will be an opportunity wherein Organizations can showcase their achievements of excellence on a larger canvas.
Ms. Bharti Sood, Regional Director of PHDCCI mentioned Punjab Tourism Recognitions (PTR) is a prestigious initiative designed to honour businesses and organizations that have made significant contributions to the Tourism Industry in Punjab. She added, our eminent Jury members with stellar records will evaluate the nominees based on predetermined criteria and selecting the winners in various
categories.
Mr. Nishchaiy Behl, Convener, Regional Tourism & Hospitality Committee, PHDCCI underscored PTR will build frameworks of excellence for tourism growth. He highlighted various categories for recognition and remarked that each category aims to spotlight specific areas of excellence and innovation, encouraging participants to strive for high standards in service delivery and visitor engagement. He further elaborated Punjab Tourism Recognitions will be identifying and rewarding Excellence both on SDGs and Commercial Achievement. This Recognitions Program will be a flagship event for the state wherein the entire sector will converge on this platform.
Mr. Naveen Seth, DSG, PHDCCI mentioned PTR would significantly enhance Punjab’s tourism landscape & discerning judgment by esteemed jury will add immense value to the selection process, ensuring that the most deserving candidates are recognized for their contributions. He accentuated Punjab Tourism Recognitions will measure both Hard and Soft Data to comprehensively evaluate the performance of the contestants. We intend to create a Recognitions Program which is a coveted symbol of excellence for the Tourism Sector of Punjab, he added.
