Taking a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Punjab Chambers of Commerce & Industries, PCCI held a live pre-pitching session with start-up owners in presence of entrepreneurs, investors and corporate representatives at Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Mohali, here today as part of the “Punjab Start-Up Summit & Tech Awards, 2017: Nurturing Talent, Harnessing Innovation” to provide the start-ups with mentors, tech support, market assistance, funds to invest and professional networking to achieve your startup dream.
The event is being organised by PCCI jointly with Government of Punjab and supported by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, MEITY, Government of India, Software Technology Parks of India, STPI, Mohali and the Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC),
The idea was to choose the most innovative minds for the forthcoming ‘Punjab Start-Up Summit & Tech Awards- 2018’ being hosted by PCCI. The participants presented their novel ideas to a panel of investors. The ideas which appealed to the investors were selected for the final LIVE Pitching Session which is set to take place on August, 31, 2018 as part of the main event.
The event saw pitches made by 45 start-ups and a gathering of more than hundred people.
While sharing some vital information on its upcoming summit, the Secretary General of PCCI, Dalip Sharma said, “Keeping pace with the start-up revolution, PCCI has come up with the ‘Punjab Start-Up Summit & Tech Awards, 2018’ which will be held at Hotel The Lalit, Chandigarh on August, 31, 2018. “Whether you’re planning or building a high-growth tech Start-up, a mobile app, a piece of hardware, working in a non-profit or large bureaucratic organization, this summit is designed for you to support continuous innovation and sustainable growth”, added Sharma.
Manipal Dhariwal, Chairman Start-Ups/Entrepreneurship & IT &ITeS Committee, PCCI, and President SACC said – “Every problem is just missing of an idea, as soon as you get one, the problem is gone. Most of the startup ideas are the result of envisioning a solution for the problems faced by us or to fulfil our needs in the most innovative ways. All ideas are great but only few becomes revolutionary. At this startup summit, you can find startup ecosystem needed to implement and project your ideas that can become a successful startup one day”.
He also informed that PCCI aims at encouraging Start-up ventures in North India to nurture implement and grow their businesses ideas and commercialize their innovations in tune with ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India.
Ajay P Shrivastava, Joint Director and Centre Head, STPI said, “STPI Mohali is playing a pivotal role in encouraging new IT/ITES entrepreneurs and startups to make Punjab a hub for entrepreneurship.”
The Punjab Start-Up Summit, 2018 has been conceptualized to develop the entire eco-system for the growth of the Start Ups in Punjab from informing Start Ups with their capital requirements, incubation, issues related to intellectual property, marketing support, financial and technical help to scale up their businesses.
The Punjab Start-up Summit will also feature Startup Awards 2018 besides Mentor Connect will have Keynote Speakers from the industry, facilitate Round Table & Startup Clinic, and provide a platform to startups for Networking.
Punjab Start-up Summit & Tech Awards would witness the participation of innovators, entrepreneurs, founders, business owners, students, educators, investors and senior marketers apart from the other stakeholders enabling the Start-Up ecosystem like digital executives and professionals, web & mobile strategists, designers and web project managers, business leaders and business developers, venture capitalists, equity funds, NBFCs etc. who are operating in the Startup ecosystem in Punjab.
