President Kovind to inaugurate CII Agro Tech 2018 on December 1

Ram Nath Kovind, President of India will inaugurate the mega international agricultural fair on December 1, at the Parade Ground, here in Chandigarh. CII Agro Tech 2018, India’s Premier Biennial four-day Agro Technology and Business Fair, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is being held from December 1 to December 4, at Parade Ground in Sector 17, Chandigarh. The theme for this year, which happens to be the 13th edition of the fair, is ‘Technology in Agriculture: Increasing Farmer’s Income’.

Radha Mohan Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India will also be attending the inaugural session. Meanwhile, Shri V P Singh Badnore, Governor – Punjab & Administrator UT, Chandigarh will be the chief guest for the valedictory function on the 4th.

In a statement issued here today, Mr Ajay S Shriram, Chairman, CII Agro Tech 2018, and Chairman & Sr. Managing Director, DCM Shriram Ltd, said, “Partner Country is Great Britain while Focus Countries are Canada & China. Two special pavilions have been added this time – States of India Pavilion and country pavilions from Canada, China, and United Kingdom, besides participation from Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands and USA.

The CII Agro-Tech 2018 exhibition area will be spread over an area of 16,000 square metres of with 110 exhibitors, which would include 103 domestic and 7 international. While the host states are Punjab and Haryana, Partner Ministries are, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India and Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India

The four-day fair will also have 10 concurrent shows on Good Earth Expo on Agri Inputs & Innovative Farming Techniques, Food Expo-Expo on Processed & Packaged Foods, Food Tech-Expo on improving Food Value & Cold Chain, Farm Services- Expo on Enabling Credit & Technology in Agri Business, Dairy and Livestock-Expo on Livestock Management, Implementex-Expo on Agri & Farm Implements, Farm Tech-Expo on Farm Machinery & Equipment, Water & Irrigation Management-Expo on sustainable management of water in agriculture.

A major highlight of the Fair will be interaction of farmers from the northern states with exhibitors and also learn best practices and a round-table with Progressive Farmers on Doubling Farmers’ Income. Meanwhile, international conferences include, agriculture diversification, conference on harvest for processing – integration with the global supply chain, innovators pitch, global dialogue on digital pathways in agriculture 2.0, conference on stubble burning, conference on enhancing shelf life of commodities and workshop on entrepreneurs.

Kisan Goshtees will be an important part of the fair, exclusive designed to educate farmers on various agri-related topics and acquainting them with business opportunities available. Topics such as Commercial Dairy Farming Through Scientific Management (Clean Milk Production and Marketing of Milk), Cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAP), Session on Straw Management, Organic Farming for Safe & Sustainable Future, Making Agriculture profitable through Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO’s)  & Self Help Group’s SHG’s, opportunities in fish farming, Use of Solar Energy in Agriculture and Sustainable Dairy Farming Through Indigenous Breeds: Making small dairy farming competitive will be discussed at the Kisan Goshthees.

Some of the products to be exhibited at the fair will be biotechnology tools, agro chemicals, tissue culture products, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and agricultural nutrients. Bio-processing tools, manures, farm water management systems, irrigation facilities, grains and crops will also be exhibited here. Storage facilities, dry land farming techniques, poly houses and agricultural finance services will be showcased during the event as well.
