PUCA & PUTIA demands IKGPTU to conduct online examinations due to COVID

In view of rising infection of CORONA pandemic, the Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) today requested Vice Chancellor, IKGPTU, Jalandhar, Dr. Ajay K Sharma to conduct the pending examination through online mode.

Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA & Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges said that in view of emerging COVID-19 pandemic situation, the University has postponed all the pending examinations of March, 2021 till further orders. On one hand some students have already appeared in the December 2020 Examination but some are still pending, which is resulting in the mis-matching of semester, syllabus coverage as well as it is also causing inconvenience among students.

S. Manjeet Singh, Senior Vice President, Punjab Unaided Technical  Institutions Association (PUTIA) said that, we are getting so many applications from students from Punjab as well as from other states to conduct the examination through online platform. Taking to social media, several students across various states are expressing their concerns, requesting the colleges to conduct online exams. In order to safeguard the larger interest of the students, he requested the VC, IKGPTU to conduct the pending exams through Online mode so that also the semesters could be streamlined.

It is to mention that as per the notice IKGPTU/Exam-July2020/003 dated 18.12.2020, it was stated that those students who were not able to appear in the December -January examination (conducted from 04.01.2021), they have given option to appear in March 2021 examination. Further, due to Covid situation, the University has again issued the notice (IKGPTU/Exam Nov-2020/011 dated 26.02.2021) and have given a chance again to the students who were still not able to appear in the March 2021 Examination, which was again postponed due to COVID.
