Punjab Unaided Colleges Association has urged centre government to release pending post matric scholarship funds to Punjab at the earliest.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA said that new financial year has started and since last 2-3 financial years colleges were in trouble because of non-release of post matric scholarship funds.
Kataria further added that still Rs 328.72 crore for 2015-16, Rs. 719.52 crore for 2016-17 and Rs. 567.55 crore for 2017-18 is pending under post matric scholarship scheme.
Sh. Amit Sharma, Senior Vice President, PUCA said that the State government has released pending 115 Crore to the government institution and utility certificate has already been submitted to Central Government.
Sh. Ashok Garg, Treasurer, PUCAsaid that over 3 lakh SC students are studying under PMS scheme in Punjab. In many cases students leave their studies in between due to their marriage, abroad program or any other personal problem on their own part. This dropping rate is significantly higher in Punjab. So, the dropout rate should not be considered as any scam done by the colleges.
