Punjab Minister distributes Scholarship in Aryans Scholarship Mela

Scholarship to 100 meritorious, needy & deserving students was given today on merit cum means basis in Aryans Scholarship Mela held today at PHD Chamber Sector-31 A, Chandigarh. S. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Social Welfare Minister, Punjab was the Chief Guest on the occasion; Prof (Dr.) BS Ghuman, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala was the Guest of Honour while Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the function.

The function commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by a welcome prayer. A special scholarship helpline number was also launched on the occasion for SC/ST Students. Interested students can give a missed call on 1800-123-3633. Hundreds of students from tricity, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh participated in the function.

  1. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot while speaking on the occasion said that Punjab SC Students would not have to face any problem in getting admission to any college. Minister said for the year 2016-17, the centre has released around 780 crore yet (out of which around 60 crore was Punjab’s share). The utility certificate of entire amount for 2016-17 has been sent to Centre Govt except 72 Crore. Now the ball is in centre’s coat. He urged centre to release around 415 crore for the year 2016-17.

Dharamsot further said that his Government has brought more transparency in the Centre Govt’s Post Matric Scholarship Scheme with which now no college or student can put fake or duplicate entry of the students.

Dharamsot while criticizing the centre Govt’s proposal of 60:40 in PMS scheme said that with this, Centre Govt is running away from its responsibility of SC students. He asked Modi Govt to continue the PMS scheme without any change in Centre or State’s share

Dr. BS Ghuman while appreciating this initiative of Aryans said that out of 265 institutions under the jurisdiction of Punjabi University, Aryans is one of the top institutions having Law College, Degree College, B.Ed College affiliated to Punjabi University. “Apart from academics students are excelling in cultural, sports and innovations activities.

Ghuman further said that Educational bodies should work on strengthening the 4 Es i.e Expansion in Higher Education, Equity, Excellence, Employability.

Dr. Parveen Kataria, Director General, Prof. BS Sidhu, Director, Aryans Group; Mrs Raman Rani Gupta, Principal, Aryans Group; Mr. Steven Jawanda, Registrar, Aryans Group etc were also present on the occasion.
