The Sufi Foundation International organised a soulful sufi music evening RANGREZA at Tagore Theatre today. Renowned Sufi Singers Ghani Mohammad and Ali Mohammad, Sameer Mohammad(First Little Champ of Sa Re Ga Ma 2006) and Amjad Mohammad from Mumbai.
Sameer Mohammad Khan had won the popular Little Champ competition organised by a TV Channel.
They belong to Bikaner, Rajasthan. Their style of singing is Mand of Rajasthan. They performed varioussufi kalam in the Mand style of singing apart from other styles also.
Their team member Nishta Vaidya on key board is from Maharashtra. Sharafat Hussain played the Table, Jetha Ram on Dholak, besides Tipua Rehman and Anmol Daniel played other instruments.
M F Farooqui, IPS, Chairman of the Sufi Foundation gave an introduction about the organisation and programme. Former DGP Dr A A Siddiqui honoured the artists. Dr Nashir Naqvi compeered the sufi evening.
Tomorrow, a seminar of RELEVANCE OF SUFI TEACHINGS, TODAY AND TOMORROW WILL BE ORGANISED AT Tagore Theatre from 10 am.
Dr Jaspal Singh, former VC of Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr Zahir Jaffri, Professor –Delhi University, Dr Naresh from Panjab University, Chandigarh and Mr Kamran Chisti from Ajmer Sharief will speak on the subject.
