A press conference was held today, the 24th of August, 2018 at Punjab Arts Council. A galaxy of Punjabi film stars, Mr. Guggu Gill, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Nirmal Rishi, B.N. Sharma, Binu Dhillon, Karamjit Anmol, Ranjit Bawa, Sunita Dhir  and Tarsem Jassad attended the meeting of North Zone Film & TV Artistes’ Association.

About 150 other artistes from Punjab and Chandigarh also attended the meeting and had shown their solidarity with the association.

The NZFTAA was registered in the year 2013 and has been working for the welfare of the members since its inception. The meeting was held for the expansion of the Executive body of the association.

The following spoke on the occasion:

J.S CHEEMA President of the Federation of North Zone Film & TV Associations welcomed all the members. He said that a dream has come true. We had been striving for it for long. He thanked all the members and wished them best of luck.

B.B. VERMA, vice president of the association said that it was a long standing demand of the artistes to strengthen its activities and to expand its base. He also said that while watching the interests of the artistes of the region they were planning to have a group insurance facility for the artistes, organize medical camps from time to time and look after their well-being once they retire from active filmmaking.

GURPREET GHUGGI said that we have formed the basic structure and now we will go-ahead to set-up the infrastructure.

MALKIAT RAUNI said that it is for the first time that such a large number of actors have gathered on one platform. While welcoming the actors he also apprised the present artistes about the activities of the Association since its inception in 2013 and it’s achievements at large.

SUNITA DHIR said that Punjabi cinema was growing because of the good response of the audience all over the world.
