Indus Towers, in association with the Chandigarh Traffic Police, organized a traffic and road safety awareness campaign at the Housing Board Chowk in Manimajra and Hallo Majra lights here today.
Stickers with road safety messages and leaflets explaining various rules were distributed to the motorists. Reflective jackets were given to cyclists and road safety banners were displayed to make people aware in this drive, which was held under the guidance of Jaswinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent Of Police – Traffic (Admin, Road Safety) Chandigarh Police.
Paramjeet Shekhon, Traffic Inspector, Chandigarh Police and Subhash Kapoor, President, Road Safety Organisation were present on the occasion along with the senior officials of Indus Towers company.
According to senior officials of Indus towers, Indus towers is committed towards safety, and will keep participating along with govt agencies to promote safety of people .
Paramjeet Shekhon, Traffic Inspector, Chandigarh Police, said, ”We want to see that no road accidents take place in the city. For this, people must follow the basic safety rules while driving on the roads.”
According to Subhash Kapoor, President, Road Safety Organisation, “Such campaigns can help people understand the value of road safety precautions. In the long run such behavior can have a major influence on road users.”
The campaign focused on the issues like wearing seat belts or helmets, driving speed, cycle track rules, parking habits, drink and drive, and talking on the mobile phone while driving, etc.
