Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society celebrated World Cancer Day on Sunday 4th February 2024 in Sahayta Cancer Kendra, Sector 15 B, Chandigarh. As part of the Society’s annual endeavour to provide holistic help to cancer patients, the Society’s patrons and supporters in the memory of their loved ones, gave the much needed financial help of Rs 10,000/- to each of 29 needy patients as ‘Jeevan Sahara’ to alleviate the pain of cancer cure.
President of Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society, Renu Saigal said, “This one-time financial help is given to very needy patients who have little source of income once a year to start some work or tide over financial difficulties. We provide this help without hurting their self-respect, with a feeling that they are a part of the Sahayta family.”
It is to be noted that this year Sahayta’s emphasis will be on prevention and screening.
Administrator of Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society said, “The Society has been conducting and will continue holding camps for spreading awareness about prevention of cervical cancer among females. We are also making provisions of free vaccinations of girls to prevent cervical cancer. Also, children belonging to cancer-inflicted families are provided free education under the Vidya Jyoti Project run by Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society.”
The society has been doing yeoman’s service aimed at helping cancer patients who are as it is broken mentally and physically due to the disease and financially because of the expensive cancer treatment.
Meanwhile, the volunteers of the Society also educated the patients to use the money wisely.
