“Phoenix 2017“, the annual IT fest of Post Graduate Department of IT, GGDSD College, Sector 32, was organised on the college campus on Wednesday, marked by scintillating performances by Punjabi music band “The Landers”.
The chief guest for the event was Mr Jitender Yadav (IAS, Director- Higher Education & Director Information Technology, UT Administration) and the special guests were Mr Mandeep Singh (IRS, Assistant Commissioner- Excise & Taxation) and Mr Ranjiv Sharma (Deputy General Manager, Central Bank of India). College principal Dr Bhushan Kumar Sharma welcomed the guests.
The event kicked off with various rounds of technical and nontechnical events. Technical events were web weaving, FixIt, Typometro, IT Pardarshan, LAN Gaming: Counter Strike. Other nontechnical events were Technocolors and Picollage. Students from more than 15 city colleges of Tricity and other parts of Punjab enthusiastically participated in various events. Many other cultural performances such as solo singing, group western and traditional dance were there. The foot-tapping traditional beats of “Bhangra” by students brought alive the campus.
A key highlight of the IT fest was “Mr and Miss Phoenix” contest, that had the college students participating in various rounds of the competitions along with the ramp walk. The attraction of the fest was RJ Abhimanyu who enthralled the audience with his dazzling performance.
