After the resounding success of the first edition of Play Write, India’s premier Sports Literature Festival, Play Write 2019 will be held on March 30-31, 2019 at the Lalit Hotel, Chandigarh. All the sports lovers in the region can attend this festival for free by registering on their website.
Vivek Atray, former IAS and Co-Founder, PlayWrite said, “A glittering array of sports personalities including Zeeshan Ali (tennis), Vishal Uppal (tennis), Deeya Bajaj (mountaineering), Bishan Singh Bedi (former cricketer), Charu Sharma, (Broadcaster, former CEO of RCB and founder Pro Kabaddi League), Kit Harris (BBC commentator and Secretary Board of Control for Cricket in Iceland (BCCI), Justice Mukul Mudgal and several others are going to speak at Play Write 2019.”
“With this event, we try to create awareness about all kinds of sports in the country and encourage the youth to follow their passion in sports.” said Vivek Atray.
CA Chitranjan Agarwal, Co-Founder, Play Write, said, “Just as we had brought women’s rugby and alpine skiing to the forefront in 2018, this year we will again be giving a lot of mileage to sports that are not so popular in the country. We will also be having sessions on Sports Law and Sports Photography and our sports photography contest is currently open to all amateurs. Alexi Singh Grewal, the only ever US Olympic Gold Medallist in road cycling, is one of the stars who have agreed to speak at our event. This Play Write is going to be even bigger than last years’.”
Play Write 2018 brought together sports personalities who have either written books or have been the subject of one or more books themselves. The event roped in well-known personalities from the playing fields of cricket, football, tennis, hockey, badminton, golf, kabaddi, squash, shooting, wrestling and athletics to name a few. The speakers included Fauja Singh (Centenarian Marathoner), Balbir Singh Sr. (Hockey Legend), Sandeep Singh (Soorma of Hockey), Anupam Mukerji (Fake IPL Player), Aparshakti Khurana (Cinestar and Sports Caster), Gurbaaz Singh Mann (Golfer), India’s women’s rugby team, Minerva F.C. (Reigning I-League Champions) and many more.
