Professor Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi(AICTE) today said that we should create a support system for students, including more internship programme or skill programme to hone the student skills. He emphasised to bring students into Start-up culture and bring students a platform where they can convert their bright ideas into innovation.
While addressing the media on the occasion of National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) 51st Annual Day at the NITTTR campus in Sector 26 here today, he said that AICTE is not just a ‘regulator’ but also a ‘facilitator’ committed to improving the quality of technical education.
Lack of resources and unemployment are the major challenges, students seek placements from their colleges. We should focus on start-ups, in this regard AICTE, has made its own start policy through which universities and colleges along with their normal courses will start entrepreneurship courses.
He added that Lab and research centres should be opened for 24 hours for students so that they can do research and draw their ideas. Indian students have a lot of potential, we just need to identify and channelize their ideas in a right direction.
During his address as Chief Guest, Professor Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi shared his views on challenges faced by technical education in India and appreciated the new initiatives and innovations being undertaken by this institute for technical teacher training to improve the quality of technical education. He assured the support of AICTE to the institute towards qualitative improvement of technical education in the country.
Professor (Dr.) KK Talwar, Chairman, BOGs, NITTTR, Chandigarh presided over the function. In his presidential address, he advised the faculty and staff of the institute to rededicate themselves to achieving the objectives and meeting the challenges posed by the dynamic and fast changing socio-economic environment in the country. He emphasised on institutional involvement in improving the healthcare system of the country.
Earlier, Dr. SS Pattnaik, Director of the institute presented the Annual Report of the institute. He elaborated upon the contribution made by the institute in the field of technical education during 2017-18.
During the annual day celebrations, brief reports of the Education Employment Summit held on 6thSeptember, 2018 and TechSpardda2K18 held on 05 – 06 September, 2018 were presented. Winners of first three positions in TechSparda2K18 were awarded Rs50,000, 30,000 and 20,000 respectively.
Awards of excellence to technical institutions from the northern region were presented to Government Polytechnic, Jammu, J&K, Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala, Punjab and DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jalandhar, Punjab.
The institute presented Academic Awards (Best student) in respect of ME (both Modular and Regular) programmes to Sh. Mr. Vipin Kumar, Sh. Aijaz Ahmad, Ms. Nidhi Chaudhary, Sh. Satish Kumar, Sh. Shashi Kant Sharma, Ms. Shivani Gupta, Sh. Robin Babit, Ms. Rashmi Karkra, Ms. Jyoti, Ms.Shilpi Yadav and Ms. Vaishali Kambojand Dr. SP Luthra Memorial Gold Medals to Sh. Shashi Kant Sharma and Ms. Rashmi Karkra. In addition, Incentives to meritorious employees of the institute were also presented.
