Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Education, Government of India has recognised Post Graduate Government College for Girls,Sector-11,Chandigarh, as one of the exemplary performer in the “Swachhta Action Plan” green campus initiative and conferred “District Green Champion” award along with a certificate and amount of Rupees Five Thousand.
Director Higher Education, Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, presented the certificate to the Principal Prof. Anita Kaushal during district –level cluster workshop where Dr W.G,Prasanna Kumar, Chairman and Mr Samarth Sharma, Programme Coordinator of MGNCRE, Principals and faculty members of various colleges were present.
Around one thousand higher educational institutions participated in the ‘One District One Green Champion’ Awards organized by MGNCRE. The college has carved out a niche as the Green Champion as a result of various initiatives undertaken by Dr Vishal Sharma, College Coordinator and faculty members towards the sustainable development-policies related to environment and efficient campus concerning waste, water and energy.
Principal Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal, congratulated the Coordinator,
Dr Vishal Sharma, and the faculty members and observed that the award acknowledges and promotes successful endeavours and initiatives of the college towards sustainable development. She added that the college has always mobilized resources for various pro-environment programmes, such as cleanliness and Geo-plantation campaigns in and around the campus, and the students and faculty exuberantly participate in these programmes.
