The Cultural Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh organised a Tabla Recital in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala today. Internationally acclaimed virtuoso Ms. Rimpa Siva enthralled the audience by her performance. Also known as Princess of Tabla, Ms. Rimpa Siva belongs to Farrukhabad Gharana and learned under the guidance of her father Pt. Swapan Siva. She was accompanied by Sh. Bhisham Sharma on harmonium.
Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college, Prof. Rama Arora, Dean, and Mr. Kanwar Iqbal Singh, Vice-Principal, and Convenor of the Cultural Society of the college were present on the occasion. Dr. Saubhagya Vardhan Brihaspati, Director, NZCC, Patiala, Sh. Kamal Arora, Chairperson, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, Prof. Neera Grover also graced the occasion.
Ms. Rimpa played Teentala and mesmerised the audience by scintillating compositions. She presented compositions of various legendary artists such as Ustad Habibuddin Khan, Ustad Ahmadjan Thirakwa, Karamatullah Khan and by her father Sh. Swapan Siva.
The audience was captivated by the dedicated performance of the tabla maestro and her dexterity was highly applauded by one and all. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal congratulated the Cultural Society for organising the event and motivated the students to learn to synthesise an appropriate blend of theory and practice in their academics for success from today’s presentation.
