The Association of Licensed Immigration & Education Consultants (ALIEC) strongly refutes baseless accusations against registered immigration consultants regarding recent deportation cases from the USA. The organization clarifies that illegal migration is facilitated by unregistered and unregulated agents, not by licensed professionals operating under the Punjab Travel Professionals Regulation Rules, 2013.
While addressing a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club, Jatinder Benipal, President, ALIEC affirmed that their members Licensed immigration consultants operate within the legal framework and adhere to strict regulatory guidelines, ensuring that all applicants follow authorized immigration pathways. Citing the recent reports of deportations of illegal immigrants from the USA, unfairly placing blame on travel agents for these unfortunate events, Benipal lauded that It is unjust to generalize blame when unauthorized individuals, not recognized travel agents, are responsible for facilitating illegal migration.
ALIEC represents legally recognized consultants who strictly adhere to government regulations, maintain ethical standards, employ trained professionals, and fulfill all tax obligations. The association highlights that illegal migration is often a personal choice made by individuals despite knowing the risks, including detention, deportation, and employment instability.
ALIEC emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between legitimate, licensed immigration consultants and unregulated agents exploiting vulnerable individuals. As professionals, licensed consultants comply with legal requirements, provide expert guidance, and offer transparent services to those seeking to migrate through authorized channels. The individuals who choose illegal migration routes do so with full awareness of the risks involved. Such actions are personal choices that should not be attributed to lawful professionals who operate with integrity and in compliance with immigration laws.
ALIEC also calls for reforms in the Travel Professionals Regulation Act to close loopholes that allow illegal operators to thrive while placing unnecessary scrutiny on registered consultants. Additionally, the association urges civil and police authorities to conduct awareness campaigns to help applicants make informed choices and prevent illegal migration.
The association also urges the government to take immediate action to close gaps in existing legislation, ensuring better regulation and accountability within the immigration consultancy sector. By collectively working towards a secure and transparent immigration system, we can foster trust, uphold legal immigration processes, and safeguard the interests of genuine applicants.
The association remains committed to working with the government and media to strengthen the credibility of the immigration sector and ensure a transparent, ethical, and secure migration process.
