The Nottingham Trent University, UK’s Chamber Choir is touring India (April 4th – April 6th (New Delhi) and April 7th – April 11th (Chandigarh). Panjab University, Chandigarh is the main host in Chandigarh for this Choir. Panjab University and Nottingham Trent University signed an MoU in 2015 and since then there have been student and faculty exchanges and now this special visit by the University’s internationally acclaimed Choir. This is a unique opportunity for the city when a 30 member choir is going to have 2 public concerts and 2 concerts in the city’s schools.
The Nottingham Trent Chamber Choir comprises of students, staff and alumni from the university and is directed by the Director of Music, Matthew Hopkins and Mr. Tom Bates is the accompanist. The choir perform a varied repertoire from Baroque to Contemporary music and have performed in many venues across the UK and Europe. The 9th evening (6 p.m.) will see another public performance at the Alliance
Francaise, Sector 36. These are free and open to all music lovers.
Every year the Chamber Choir embark on a European tour and in the past have visited Holland, Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary. In April 2016, the NTU Chamber Choir travelled to Spain where they performed in Barcelona’s most prestigious venues, including La Sagrada Familia, Monserrat Abbey and Barcelona Cathedral. The Chamber Choir are delighted to extend their annual tour out of Europe for the first time and are excited to explore new venues in New Delhi and Chandigarh.Social media/website links:
