The penultimate match of the inaugural US Kids Golf India Tour was held in Chandigarh Golf Club amidst much fanfare and enthusiasm. Despite the prevailing cold wave conditions, more than 60 young golfers all between 7 to 15 years were out there to show their drive and putt in the challenging Chandigarh Golf Course.

Renowned professional golfer Ajeetesh Sandhu, who was present to encourage the children, lauded the effort to take golf to the grassroots.  In an exclusive question-answer session with the kids, he gave some tips about nutrition and exercise.

The tournament will carry ranking points and will enable junior golfers to participate in the US Kids World Championship, US Kids European Championship and US Kids Teen World Championship.

Once again Arshvant Srivasatva from Noida in the Boys 9 continued his winning streak with some excellent putting (4 birdies) and topped for the fourth time in his category. Ayan Dubey and Bhavesh Nirwan from Noida, UP were tied to the second spot.  Ayan Dubey is one player who has been participating in all the seven legs so far and his performance is getting better with each tournament.

Local lads Aryan Singh (Boys 13-14), Jujjhar Singh (Boys 12), and Aditya Sood (Boys 15-18) won in their respective categories. The event witnessed participants not only from Chandigarh and Punjab but junior golfers from UP, Delhi and even Kolkata. The top 3 positions in the Boys 10 were grabbed by Anshul Mishra, Prashant Agarwal and Aditya Khaitan all from Kolkata.

While it were the boys from Kolkata who stole the show, it were the girls from Delhi and NCR to grab the top positions in Category 8-9. Ayesha Gupta, Parnika Sharma and Rhea Gupta took the first three spots. Serena Khanna also from New Delhi grabbed the top honors with a score of 81 in Girls 10-11.

Recognised as a world leader in youth golf, U.S. Kids Golf is dedicated to helping young players enjoy golf with age appropriate yardages.

Rajesh Srivastava, President, U.S. Kids Golf India said, “We are overwhelmed by the response and performance of the young golfers across India. I am sure we are taking the right steps to promote junior golf in India and initiative like this will certainly bear fruits in the near future.”

The inaugural tour will come to a full circle this Thursday 31st of January, 2019 with the last one being played in Classic Golf and Country Club, Gurugram which will carry double points.
