UT SSP inaugurates CII Yi Sports Carnival

CII Yi Sports Carnival 2017 organised by Confederation of Indian Industry got off to a colourful start at Cricket Stadium Sector 16, Chandigarh. Dr Eish Singhal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, unveiled the trophy for the tournament as the chief guest on the occasion.

Mr Arun Sharma, former cricketer, was the guest of honour on the occasion. Dr Singhal emphasised on the need to organise more sports events to promote a sports culture in the city.

In the exhibition match played between CII Yi and Chandigarh City Centre, CII Yi won the match by 7 runs. Batting first CII Yi scored 169 runs. CCC was 162 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Vijay of CCC was the highest scorer for the team with 89 runs. Amarinder took three wickets for CII Yi and scored 63 runs.

In the matches played today, Punjab & Haryana High Court won the match by 11 runs beating Chandigarh Group of Hotels. Chandigarh Group of Hotels were all out for 146 runs in 18 overs. Batting first Punjab & Haryana High Court scored 157 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. In another match between TT Consultants and CII Yi, CII Yi won the match by 40 runs.

A total of 16 teams are taking part in the sports carnival this year.
