DIVYA AZAD

To pay rich tributes to the late youth  leader Vicky Middukhera on his second death anniversary, the Students Organization of India (SOI) in collaboration with various other parties organised a candlelight vigil cum march at the SD College-32, Chandigarh, in which hundreds of youth took part. On the occasion, the popular student leader was remembered.  Ardaas (prayers) were also organised for him at Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan.
Vicky Middukhera had made a name for himself cutting across party lines and was hugely popular among the youth and students. Vicky’s brother Ajaypal Singh Middukhera said after the ardaas, “Vicky was a popular student leader and had a lot of plans, but everything stopped midway due to his untimely demise. We are determined to carry forward his legacy.” It is noteworthy that on August 7, 2021, Vicky Middukhera was brutally gunned down by an unknown assailant in Sector 71 market, Mohali. Hundreds of youth  took out a candlelight vigil cum march in the fond memory of their beloved leader on his second death anniversary and paid their heartfelt tributes to him.  The students and youth participating in the candlelight march demanded that the Punjab government  speed up the investigation in the Vicky murder case. They raised a demand that an accused who had fled out of India be brought back  so that justice is done in the case.
Prominent SOI leaders who were present included  Gurbaaz Bath, President, SOI, SD College, and senior leaders – Ratanveer Gill  and Satwinder singh. SOI members Yuvraj Tiwana, Shubhkarn Singh, Sarbhpreet Singh and Tanminder Singh also participated.
