Today, Chandigarh Police, Narcotics Control Bureau, Chandigarh and Thrill Zone collaboratively organized a Run and Walkathon on the eve of 26 June as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking started from Sukhna Lake entry point to Kishangarh roundabout from 5.00 AM to 8.00 AM. The Run and Walkathon conducted in two forms i.e. 5 Kms and 10 Kms. The main motive of Run & Walkathon was to aware the general public against the harmful effects of drugs as well as awareness for healthier world. A large numbers of participants from schools, volunteers, NCB and Chandigarh Police took part in the Run & Walkathon. The flag of ceremony was done by Sh. Eish Singhal, W/SSP/UT, chief guest on this occasion. Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included Sh. Kaustub Sharma, IPS, DIG/NCB, Sh. Kuldeep Sharma, DSP/NCB, DSP Pawan Kumar, DSP Jaswinder Singh, DSP Ram Gopal, Smt. Mohinder Kaur Kataria, Social Worker, Sh. P.C. Kushwah, Thrill Zone, Insp. Poonam Dilwari. Speaking at the closing ceremony of this event, in his speech, DIG, North Zone, NCB, Sh. Kaustubh Sharma, IPS aware the gathering about the harmful effects of drugs as well as menace of drugs in the society. He especially emphased in his speech that the children and youths should be aware by their parents about the wrongful effects of drugs on the human body and also watch the activities of their children by spending more and more time with them.
The event concluded with a prize presentation ceremony along with distribution of refreshment among the participants.
