Nari Jagriti Manch, today organized a unique event to commemorate International Women’s Day at Sector 40 Hanumant Dharam Temple here. On this occasion former Punjab minister, Laxmi Kanta Chawla was the chief guest. Among other prominent present included Neena Tiwari, President of the Manch, and other members including Ranju Grover, Prem Lata, Pal Sharma, Raj Suri and Sudarashan Sharma.
While speaking on the occasion, Chawla felicitated Panchkula ASP Anshul Singla, two women DSP, DSP Rashmi Sharma, DSP Anjithi Chepyala, Seven police inspectors, Sita Devi, Gurjit Kaur, Punam Dilawari, Kulvir Kaur, Paramjeet Kaur, Gurdarshan Kaur Bhullar and Jaswinder Kaur. In addition 40 handicapped poor girls were handed over artificial limbs etc, while poor girls were given bicycles. Those girls who are getting training in Taekwondo at the temple were also felicitated for their outstanding performances.
Neena Tiwari, while speaking on the occasion said woman power needs to be recognized. She said women have excelled in all areas and have set an example in the society, adding everyone should respect the women for their contribution to the society.
A demonstration was also organized by Taekwondo trainees. Poems were also recited and songs sung on the occasion.
