GNM and ANM students along with the staff of Aryans Institute of Nursing, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh celebrated World Heart Day at its Campus. A seminar on Lifestyle Management in Youth to prevent Heart Diseases was organized in which Dr. Hakim Irfan Showkat, Cardiologist, Grecian Super Specialty Hospital, Mohali was the Chief Guest.
Students organized various fun events and contests related to heart care and its protection raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases to live a healthy life.
A free medical health check-up camp was also organized by a team of specialists from Grecian including Dr. Jaskaran (General Physician), Dr. Amardeep (Eye Specialist), Dr. Isha (Gynecologist), Ms Nimrat and Jasmine (Dieticians) etc for the students, staff and local rural people.
Dr. Hakim explained briefly about the cardiovascular diseases and emphasized on the importance of good eating habits, cessation of smoking as it has a bad effect on heart health. He also spoke about the importance of sports and exercise.
Hakim emphasized on healthy lifestyle, stress-free life to keep the heart-healthy. He advised students to avoid junk food which is high in cholesterol level and to get regular checkups after 3 months for liver and heart.
